Ekomarathon Buffer: a popular marathon, solidarity and ecology on the island of Reunion! Three years ago I had the great pleasure and privilege to run the first edition of Ekomarathon Buffer to the Meeting. My friend Olivier Bessy, originally of the race, then asked me to create a beautiful tray runner to start the event. This first edition was a great success and popular sport with a record number of riders entered on an event of this kind on the island.
The concept of race that combines solidarity, ecology and sport had to endure. I was really seduced by both the popular aspect of the event, which takes place over three loops of 14 km, allowing as many to participate in relays, hiking or running the marathon course whole, and by the real ecological concerns expressed here: the impact of the event as small as possible, "ekovillage" with companies and associations working really to make their products and shares the most environmentally responsible as possible. In short a great feast of running, friendship and ecology. Olivier
left in metropolis of course the event has not been abandoned and Roland Chan, who had orchestrated the club with him and the Plain of CA Caffres this first edition, has continued the work begun in 2008, supported of course by the Municipality of the stamp.
On 2 and 3 will take place next April the 4th edition of this festival of running, which has received label Sport and Sustainable Development issued by the National French Olympic
is the only sporting event of the entire Indian Ocean to have obtained this label.
And for me it will be a joy to return to run on the Island of Flowers ...
